Types of UK Visas & Their Price
These visas are given based on your reason for travelling to the United Kingdom, the length of time you intend staying, your personal skills and circumstances, and then where you are coming from (in terms of your country) according to Gov.uk. The official UK visa application website.
1.) Standard Visitors Visa – N41,502
With this type of legal permit, you can stay as long as 30 days in the United Kingdom, visit family and friends and have some great times over there.
However there are several things you cannot do with it. For instance during your stay, you are not allowed to work, start a business or study for more than 30 days while using this particular permit.
2.) Visa To Travel Through The UK – N27,939
With this kind of permit, you are not allowed to stay for long periods of time in the country. As a matter of fact, you have not more than 48 hours to stay on it.
Before you will be granted this permit, you must have booked your flight, train or whichever transport method you intend to use in advance and must be ready to present the documents.
You are not allowed to do so much with this since you are just passing through the country to your final destination.
There are two different kinds of this permit. The first one costs around N15,277 while the second costs around N27,939.
3.) General Student Visa – N151,922
Before you can apply for this kind of visa, you must have been granted admission to study in any school in the United Kingdom and must provide proofs that you have enough money to take care of yourself while you are there.
Also you must be over 16 years old and must be able to speak, write and understand English, the official language in the UK.
There are other variants of this permit like the short-term study visa which costs around N42,348 and a child student visa (for kids of 4 to 16 years) that costs almost the same amount as the General Student type.
4.) General Work Visa – N266,387
If you are planning on travelling to the UK to work, there several kinds of work visas that you can apply for.
Each of them have their requirements, benefits and limitations. However, the type we are talking about here is the general type.
With this, you can stay and work in the United Kingdom for up to 3 years. While working with this particular one, you can have more than one job provided it doesn’t affect the one for which you applied for the document in the first place.
Once your time there is expired or before it expires, you can apply to have your documents renewed and then continue to live and work in the country.
5.) Investor Visa – N710,203
If you are planning on investing in the United Kingdom, this is the type of visa you need. It costs about 1,623 pounds.
However, before applying for this, the UK government requires you to have at least 2,000,000 pounds in your account that you are ready to invest in the country. That is about N875,550,000.00.
If you don’t have upto that in your account, you might want to check out other types of permit that may match what exactly you want to do over there.
6.) Start-up Visa – N158,875
With this document, you can stay in the UK for upto 2 years. But before applying for it, you must make sure the business you intend to start is completely new. It must be a new idea, not something some other persons or groups are already doing.
After two years of your stay in the United Kingdom with this type of visa, you will be required to apply for a new one if you intend to keep staying there. You either apply for a new one or switch to another type.
If you are hoping to permanently settle there, this is not the right one to apply for.
7.) Family Visa – N666,211
This type of visa allows you to stay with a relative, a member of your family in the UK for more than 6 months. E.g Your spouse, child, parents or siblings.
You can either apply for it here or have your relative already there apply for it for you.
If you don’t plan on staying for more than 6 months, then there is no need applying for this. You can go with just the standard visitors type.
8.) Refugee/Humanitarian protection visa – Free
This is the only visa you won’t be paying for to apply at the United Kingdom’s official website. But be rest assured you will be required to provide so many documentations to prove your application is genuine.

Applying For The Visa In Nigeria – The Process Involved
1.) You will be required to fill the application. This can either be downloaded online from the UK visa application website or gotten from the official addresses above.
2.) Proceed to make payments for the one you are applying for at any GTB branch or online using your banking cards and details.
3.) You will be required to meet physically with the officials in charge of the application in Nigeria at any of the above addresses on a specific date where you will be interviewed and have your biometrics taken. Prepare ahead for this and don’t be late for the appointment.
4.) Within a maximum 90 days, your visa will be processed if you are eligible for it. Normally, you will receive a response from them three weeks from your application date. It can take longer though depending on your visa type and other things involved.
