They are not only similar, they are also both impressive. And choosing between the two is a thing a lot of people find difficult.

So if you’re one of those who have a hard time choosing between these products, you have come to the right place.

I don’t think we will be getting a new Tecno phantom (their high end line) this year but there are more lines of Tecno phones you can still choose from apart from this newest camon.

In this article, I’ll be comparing the two devices in a way that will be helpful in knowing which of them to consider. So stick with me till the end of this content.

Price of Zero 8 & Camon 16 Premier

The price of infinix zero 8 is N140,000 Naira in Nigeria and Tecno camon 16 Premier is selling for N120,400 Naira. Both are available on Jumia, Slot NG and offline stores.

In other words, the Zero 8 is significantly more expensive, even though the spec-and-feature differences between the two are not so huge.

So if you’re a Tecno fan in the first place, then you should probably jump at the camon 16 premier, without wasting any time.

Computing Hardware

Both the CAMON 16 PREMIER and the ZERO 8 are powered by the MediaTek MT6785 Helio G90T chipset.

And for those who don’t know, the chipset is one of MediaTek’s nicest chipset. The chipset features two 2.05 GHz Cortex A76 cores and six 2.00 GHz Cortex A55 cores.

The Cortex A76 cores are ordinarily what run, but when there’s a lot of work to do, the Cortex A55 cores are what get activated.

In short, the MediaTek MT6785 Helio G90T processor looks impressive on paper. But what about in reality?

Well, with the few games and apps I ran on the two phones, I can confidently say that the Helio G90T delivers excellently.

Also, since the CAMON 16 PREMIER and the ZERO 8 are both powered by the MediaTek MT6785 Helio G90T chipset, they are both powered by the same GPU.

This GPU in question is the Mali G76 MC4 GPU. The Mali G76 MC4 is not a popular GPU, so it’s possible you may have never encountered a phone using it.

But let me also assure you that the Mali G76 MC4 will also impress you. I subjected the Mali G76 MC4 to extensive tests, and I must say that I was impressed.

Of course, it didn’t perform as excellently as the most impressive GPUs we have out there, but still, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

The Camon 16P and the Zero 8 are not only similar in terms of processor and GPU, these phones are also similar in terms of RAM. Both phones come in only one RAM size, and that’s 8 GB.

In short, if you’re trying to choose between the two devices, the aspect of computing hardware isn’t one of those aspects that can help you choose best.

However, while the chipset of the two phones is really impressive, I feel the manufactures could have done better jobs, by equipping the two phones with Qualcomm chipsets.

For instance, the Nokia 7.2 which sells within the price range of these two phones is powered by a Qualcomm processor, the Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660.

Display

While the Camon 16 premier and the Infinix Zero 8 have a lot in common, the aspect of display is not one of those aspects they share some similarities.

The display of the ZERO 8 measures 6.85 inches while that of the CAMON 16 PREMIER measures 6.90 inches. But with the difference being just 0.50 inches, choosing between the two based on screen size alone won’t make much sense.

As for the display type of the two phones, the two devices come with IPS displays. I understand that the Samsung A50 which falls in their category comes with a Super AMOLED display.

But don’t forget Samsung is also a maker of displays, so the company can afford to use impressive displays for its phones. In short, it will be unfair to say Tecno and Infinix should have used a display from the AMOLED family.

With the ZERO 8 having a pixel density of about 392 pixels per inch and the CAMON 16 PREMIER having a pixel density of about 374 pixels per inch, the manufacturers can not also be considered to have disappointed in this aspect.

In short, while there isn’t much difference between the two displays, I’ll prefer the ZERO 8’s display over that of the CAMON 16 PREMIER’s display, since the ZERO 8’s display is just as large and has a little higher pixel density.

Storage

I’m naturally a critic of Infinix and Tecno, but when it comes to the storage of the ZERO 8 and the CAMON 16 PREMIER, I must state that I’m pleased.

The two devices come with 128 GB of internal storage. Many devices in their category don’t come with internal storage of this capacity.

For instance, the Nokia 7 Plus comes with 64 GB of internal storage and the Galaxy A50 also comes with 64 GB of internal storage.

But that’s not the only thing that impresses me, the fact that the storage devices of the two phones are also UFS 2.1 storage devices is something I’m also pleased with.

In short, the aspect of display is an aspect these two phones will confidently compete with all other phones in their category.

And also, you can’t really decide between the two phones, based on the kind of display they feature.

Camera

The rear side of the Zero 8 is loaded with four lenses. The main lens on the rear side is a 64 MP lens.

The second rear lens is an 8 MP lens which assists with the ultrawideness of pictures. The third rear lens is a 2 MP lens which assists with the depth of the pictures. The fourth rear lens is a 2 MP lens which assists with macro pictures.

And based on the pictures and videos I was able to take with the Zero 8 phone, I must say the rear cameras are cool but there’s also some gimmick in play.

As for the rear side of the Camon 16 Premier, the lenses featured are the same as those featured by the ZERO 8, so the two phones can be said to be similar in this aspect.

But while these rear cameras take nice pictures, I believe the two companies could have done better jobs.

For instance, the rear side of the Nokia 7 Plus features a 12 MP lens and a 13 MP, yet it takes more impressive pictures.

The front of both the ZERO 8 and the CAMON 16 PREMIER come with two lenses which are the same. The main front lens is a 48 MP lens, while an 8 MP lens assists with the ultrawideness of pictures.

These two lenses are also not the best, compared to what other similar phones feature, but they are quite manageable.

Network Support

While the Zero 8 and the Camon 16P are truly the most impressive products Infinix and Tecno have to offer, they have no 5G support.

And while some people consider this lack of 5G support a terrible thing, I don’t think it is that bad. 5G is not going to become a serious thing until after 2 or more years.

So since most users of the phones won’t be using the phones for more than 2 or 3 years, I don’t see how lack of 5G support is a bad thing.

Final Words

If you want to choose between infinix zero 8 vs tecno camon 16 premier, forget about choosing based on specs and features.

You can rather choose based on either price or based on which brand you prefer since they offers almost the same user experience.

If you’ll like to choose based on price, you should consider the CAMON 16 PREMIER, as it is significantly less expensive.

If you choose the Zero 8 over the camon 16, you should know, infinix has numerous other lines of smartphones from entry level to high end if you care enough to check them out.
