Can’t seems to choose between Google Pixel 4a vs OnePlus Nord? I know, it can be like that sometimes which why i am putting them side by side in this write up.
The Google Pixel 4a and the OnePlus Nord are two cool Android devices. In terms of performance, both products will easily compete with other devices in the smartphone world.
However, if I’m to choose between the two, the Nord is what I’ll choose; the Nord is better is many important aspects like computing power, display, cameras, battery life, and so on.
But don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean, some people won’t find the Pixel 4a more preferable; for instance, people interested in a stock Android OS, will find the Pixel 4a preferable to the Nord.
In one of my previous write up, i have also placed the iPhone SE 2020 and Nord side by side and i think those that are thinking of moving from one of the OS to the other one should check it out.
However, while the paragraph above gives a summary of the two products, I have more details I think you’ll be glad to learn. In other words, you should consider sticking with me till the end of this content; you won’t regret it. So let’s get into it.

Prices of Pixel 4a and Nord
the Nord provides a lot of reasonable things, and still sells for N185,000. The Pixel 4a is loaded with quite inferior hardware and sells for about N205,000.
In short, if getting the best value for your money is your biggest consideration, then the Nord is the device you should be looking at.
However, one thing you should note is that the mentioned prices of the phones are the prices it’ll cost you to get the products from standard smartphone stores.
In other words, it shouldn’t come as a surprise, if you find some stores selling these products are significantly different prices.
But anyway, regardless of where you’re buying from, the Nord should always be the best value for money.
When it comes to the aspect of computing power, as stated above, the Nord is superior to the Pixel 4a.
Giving details, the Nord is powered by the Qualcomm SDM765 Snapdragon 765G, while the Pixel 4a is powered by the inferior Qualcomm SDM730 Snapdragon 730G chipset.
For the sake of those who don’t understand how these two chipsets compare, the Qualcomm SDM730 Snapdragon 730G is a DynamIQ-based processor made up of eight cores; six of these cores efficiency cores rated at 1.80 GHz, while the other two are performance cores rated at 2.20 GHz.
Lastly, the eight cores of the chipset’s processor are based on ARM’s v8.2-A microarchitecture.
As for the more powerful Qualcomm SDM765 Snapdragon 765G, which powers the Nord, it’s processor is also an octa-core processor based on the ARM’s v8.2-A microarchitecture.
The processor is further also made up of eight cores, six of which are identical to those featured in the SDM730’s processor.
But while the SDM730’s processor has 2.20 GHz performance cores, the performance cores of the SDM765 can go as high as 2.40 GHz.
In short, the Nord will process faster than the Pixel 4a, in some aspects.
However, the faster processor of the SDM765 isn’t the only way the chipset is better than the SDM730.
Another aspect of computing where the SDM765 triumphs, is the aspect of graphics processing.
With the SDM765 being equipped with the Adreno 620 GPU and the SDM730 being equipped with the Adreno 618 GPU, the SDM765 performs better at graphics processing.
In other words, the Nord is superior to the Pixel 4a, when it also comes to graphics processing.
When you buy a build of the Pixel 4a, 6 GB of RAM is what you can possibly get. But as for the Nord, you can get a build coming with any of 6 GB, 8 GB, or 12 GB of RAM.
However, this doesn’t necessarily mean the Nord is further better in this aspect. It’s just that if you feel 6 GB of RAM won’t be okay for you, then you may want to consider the Nord.
But, you should also be aware of the fact that the price stated in this article is the price of 6 GB RAM of the phones. If you’ll like to get an 8 GB or 12 GB build of the Nord, you’ll have to pay some extra cash.
So to conclude the aspect of computing, the Nord is clearly the better product. However, choosing the Pixel 4a over it, won’t be a terrible idea, since the difference isn’t that big.
When it comes to the aspect of display, neither the display of the Pixel 4a nor that of the Nord is a thing you’ll be displeased with. The display of the Pixel 4a is an always-on OLED display.
The display measures of 5.81 inches, while having a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels. This display’s size and resolution leaves the product’s touch screen with a resolution of 443 PPI.
As for the Nord, the device comes with a 6.44 inches AMOLED display. And with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels, this display has a pixel density of 403 PPI.
But while the pixel density of the Nord’s display is truly a bit smaller than that of the Pixel 4a, we can’t consider the 4a’s display to be superior, as some people will prefer the Nord’s display for its largeness.
In short, it is difficult to say one display is better than the other. Rather, I think you should think about which you’ll prefer better.
Builds of the Pixel 4a all come with 128 GB of internal storage, unlike the Nord whose build’s may come with any of 64, 128, or 256 GB of internal storage.
And while the 64 GB builds of the Nord is what sells for the price mentioned above, much credit can’t be given to the Pixel 4a as the 4a sells for quite more than what a 128 GB build of the Nord sells for.
In short, when trying to decide on which of the two phones to choose, it won’t make much sense to dismiss any of the two devices based on this aspect. It’ll rather make more sense to use other important and relevant factors to decide.
The Google Pixel 4a comes with a single 12.2 MP lens on its rear side, while the Nord features four lenses on its rear side (a 48 MP lens, an 8 MP lens, a 5 MP lens, and a 2 MP lens).
And while you may guess the Nord will take better pictures, you’re right; with the help of a series of test conducted, with the help of seasoned photographers, we find the Nord to take more impressive pictures.
However, don’t get this wrong, this isn’t to mean the pictures of the 4a can’t compete at all; actually, the 4a also takes really cool pictures, they just aren’t as good as those taken by the lenses of the Nord.
The Nord not only beats the Pixel 4a, when it comes to their rear cameras, the phone also beats the Pixel 4a seriously, when it comes to their front cameras.
In fact, it taking epic selfies matter greatly to you, you probably should choose the Nord.
Also, when it comes to the quality of videos taken by the front cameras of the Nord, the front camera of the 4a isn’t a match.
In the aspect of network support, the OnePlus Nord is further the better phone. This device is one of those Android products having 5G support.
Its 5G support is great, so you should have very little or no problem using it with the 5G networks available in most countries of the world.
However, when it comes to 4G support, both devices are both excellent. And in fact, if you won’t be using your phone for over 2 or 3 years, the 5G support of the OnePlus probably shouldn’t matter a lot for you.
Or to put in a more straightforward manner, the Nord has 5G support, but it may not be a good idea for some of you to use this 5G support as a criterion for choosing between the two devices.
Generally, if you’re considering which of the two devices to choose, the OnePlus Nord is hands-down what you should consider.
But if for some reason, you’re attracted to the Pixel 4a, I think you should feel free to choose it over the Nord.
If you like the Nord, you should know that there are more impressive phones from OnePlus that you can also buy at the moment. You should check the list.
I hope at the end, this write was helpful for you to finally make a decision between the Google Pixel 4a and the Nord from OnePlus.
